Keepsake Memory Bears
There is no wrong or right way for choosing clothes for memory bears. Whether you have a bundle of cute little baby items, a couple of items from loved ones, a wedding dress, sport clothing or even school uniforms which you would like making into a memory bear, all are more than suitable.
We get asked a lot about the type of clothing/ fabrics which work best when making a memory bear, so we have compiled a list of pieces that work best for each style of bear. We hope this will help you choose the best fabrics to send to us.
It can be so difficult choosing just a couple of favourite items when you have so many sentimental pieces you would like to use; it is usually a personal choice. You might prefer your bear to be made from one item, or a patchwork style using multiple pieces. Our memory bears look lovely made from one texture of fabric but also look fabulous made with a mix of textures.
We usually recommend washing your fabrics/ clothing items before sending them to us. However we do understand if you decide not to as you would like the smell of a loved one to stay on the bear. Older clothes usually become thinner over time and have small holes or stains on them, this usually isn’t a problem as we will try our hardest to work around the affected areas.
We have a few fabrics that can’t be used on any of our memory bears. Usually this fabric is either too thick or doesn’t hold the shape too well. This includes PVC items such as swimwear and coats, extra thick knitwear, shoes and leather.
No need to worry if you are choosing stretchy fabrics, knitted fabrics or thin fabrics to send us, as all our memory bears are fully lined. This will not only help with sustainability, it will also take out the stretch to ensure your keepsake memory bear keeps it shape. School Uniform Bears
What Clothing can we use?
Clothes for the School Uniform Memory Bear can include:
- Ties
- Bookbags and P.E bags
- Jumpers
- Polo’s
- Shirts
- Summer dress
- Pinafore
- Trousers and skirts
How many items do I need to send?
We usually require a minimum of 4 school items for our standard size school bear and 6 items for our large size school bear. You’re welcome to send more than this amount, and please don’t hesitate to include ties, book bags or a scarf for an accessory on your bear. If the school uniforms have logos on, we usually place these on the school uniform bear’s paws or belly. We can also use buttons and bows to add extra details to your teddy.
Wedding Dress Memory Bear
What clothing can we use?
For both our standard size and large wedding dress memory bear, we require one wedding dress. We can use a mix of all the layers of the dress and pieces from the bodice and skirt area. If you would like other fabrics included, pop them in the post with your wedding dress and we can place these on the smaller areas of the bear. We can also add other wedding fabrics into your bear, if you have a veil or bolero worn on your special day, we can incorporate this too.
Baby Clothes Memory Bear
What Clothing can we use?
Clothes for baby clothes memory bears can be:
- Baby vests
- Baby grows
- Hats
- Dresses
- Dungarees
- T-shirts
- Night suits/ sleeping bags
- Muslin cloths
- Blankets
How many items do I need to send?
We usually recommend a minimum of 5 baby items for our standard size memory bear and 10 baby items for our large baby clothes bear. You’re more than welcome to send more than the recommended amount. If your baby items are really small, then please post additional items to ensure we have enough fabric to work with. Don’t forget you can send in baby hats, bow ties, hair pieces or other little accessories and we will place these onto the bear.
Bereavement Memory Bears

- Denim jeans and jackets
- Suit jacket and trousers
- Fluffy and fleece jumpers
- Lounge wear

How many items do I need to send?
Our bereavement memorial memory bears require a minimum of 1 adult item per standard size bear or 2 adult items per large bear. If you would like a patchwork style bear we usually recommend sending between 2-6 items. We can also add accessories to your bear, so if you have a favourite scarf, a tie, or a jumper and you would like them made smaller for your bear please let us know and we will create your treasured bear in a style that you envision.
Pet Memorial Bear
What Clothing can we use?

- Thinner dog beds
- Thinner cat cushions
- Collars & tags
How many items do I need to send?
The amount needed for your pet memorial bear depends on the size of the item(s) you decide to send us to make your pet memorial bear. We only require one blanket or pet bed, but we can certainly use more if you would like a mix of colours or you have a couple of favorites.
